Occupational health and safety management in the soil laboratory of UCACUE [ Gestión de seguridad y salud laboral en el laboratorio de suelos de la UCACUE]

The objective of this study is to analyse the occupational health and safety management measures implemented in the soil laboratory of the Universidad Católica de Cuenca - Ecuador. The research from the methodological point of view was descriptive with a non-experimental, transectional design, the population consisted of a universe of 18 people, including administrative staff, teachers and technical teachers who work in the Soil Laboratory of the Catholic University of Cuenca, in the period 2023 - 2024. Only 5.56% believe that safety signage is adequate. In contrast, 55.56% perceive a lack of sufficient signage, while 38.89% consider it partial. The lack of strong regulation, poor safety awareness and culture, together with poor supervision, are critical aspects that could negatively affect current management in this area.
