The right to comprehensive care and a dignified life for older persons [Derecho a un cuidado integral y a una vida digna de los adultos mayores]

The research aims to analyse the right to comprehensive care and to a dignified life for older adults. It was based on a descriptive documentary methodology and a systematic review of 12 scientific articles that address various dimensions of the situation of older adults. The literature review shows an alarming disconnect between the constitutional principles that promote the dignity and well-being of older adults in Ecuador and the reality they face in terms of social and labour inclusion and access to essential services. Despite regulatory advances, significant gaps persist in the implementation of policies to ensure a dignified life and comprehensive care for this vulnerable population.
