Right to priority protection and comprehensive health care for pregnant women [Derecho a la protección prioritaria y cuidado de la salud integral de las mujeres embarazadas]

The aim of this research is to analyse the right to priority protection and comprehensive health care for pregnant women in Ecuador. The selection of 12 reference sources was carried out through searches in recognised academic databases. The analysis of the right to priority protection and comprehensive health care for pregnant women in Ecuador reveals a legal framework, but with significant challenges in its effective implementation. Despite advances in legislation protecting the reproductive, labour and health rights of pregnant women, important gaps persist in equity of access to health services, protection against obstetric violence and equality in the work environment. These areas require urgent reforms and greater vigilance in the implementation of existing laws to ensure that all pregnant women in Ecuador can fully enjoy their rights.
